Peritoneal Tuberculosis Mimicking Peritoneal Carcinomatosis
A 67-year-old male presented with fatigue, abdominal pain , and 30-pound weight loss over 3 months. Computerized tomography (CT) abdomen displayed ascites with thickening and enhancement of the peritoneum and mottled nodular appearing as soft tissue consistent with omental caking worrisome for peritoneal carcinomatosis. A paracentesis revealed white blood cell count of 2,500 with 98% lymphocyte...
متن کاملPeritoneal carcinomatosis mimicking a peritoneal tuberculosis
Symptoms of a peritoneal progression from ovarian cancer are nonspecific such as abdominal pain, abdominal distention and more. Many imaging studies and serum CA-125 help diagnosis. However, it is difficult to exclude the instances of the diffuse peritoneal diseases that mimic carcinomatosis. The elevated CA-125 level usually correlates with the peritoneal carcimatosis, but it is often found in...
متن کاملA case report of peritoneal tuberculosis with multiple miliary peritoneal deposits mimicking advanced ovarian carcinoma
Background: Peritoneal tuberculosis accounts 1-2% of all forms of tuberculosis. Peritoneal tuberculosis is an important differential diagnosis for ovarian cancer in women with ascites, adnexal mass and elevated cancer antigen 125 (CA125) levels. We report a case of a 32- year -old woman with multiple miliary peritoneal deposits mimicking advanced ovarian carcinoma. Case Presentation: A 32-ye...
متن کاملPeritoneal carcinomatosis mimicking a perforated diverticulitis
We report the case of a patient with a pelvic abscess and a malignant pancreatic tumor. The management of this complicated diverticulitis included radiological drainage and surgery. This abscess was due to a peritoneal carcinomatosis originating from the pancreas, which is an extremely rare cause of intestinal perforation.
متن کاملPeritoneal tuberculosis with elevated serum CA125 mimicking peritoneal carcinomatosis on F-18 FDG-PET/CT.
18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (F-18 FDG-PET) plays an important role in differentiating benign from malignant tumors. However, some false-positive findings, such as tuberculosis, may occur. We report a case referred for F-18 FDG whole-body PET computed tomography (PET/CT) scan owing to an elevated serum cancer antigen 125 (CA125). An FDG-PET/CT scan showed multiple hyperme...
